Spring Cleaning

With the wonderful weather we have been having we have been doing as much work outdoors as we can. This year we are not moving, we are not building a house and we are certainly not farming for someone else- Chuck is no longer working for the farm down the road. So we are sprucing up the land. It is funny how farmers don't get rid of things. Something we are certainly glad to still have around like this horse drawn corn planter.

But unfortunately there are many many things that are not needed or pretty. And the land that they are taking up needs to be pasture or garden so they must either find a new home or become useful.

The machinery will need to be moved but we are getting closer. This will be the future home of our veggie garden. Next week we will be picking up fruit trees and some grapes from our friend Frank. We are certainly serious about becoming self-sustainable, and it seems we are heading down the right path for now.

I am leaving tomorrow for Stevens Point. I am really looking forward to it, and it just happens to be Trivia weekend. Well I guess I should not say it just happens to be, last year it just happened to be this year I planned it. My friend Andrea and her husband Dan will be in town from out east. The main reason for the trip is to see a former professor of mine Douglas Post. I have just found out that Doug has been diagnosed with Alzheimer's, and was told he is going downhill fast. I am heart broken. I spoke to him yesterday and he sounds wonderful, I hope to spend as much time as I can with him and focus on what a wonderful teacher he has been in my life.
