Planting Asparagus

The plot
6 asparagus crowns
6 holes
A crown planted

We are tired of moving that is for sure. In the last 2 years will have moved 6 times (including our move now)! So we are planning on making this last one a lasting one. To put our roots down so to say we are planting asparagus. It takes asparagus 3 years to mature. We actually bought asparagus crowns which are a year old, so technically we only need to wait two years for our's to mature. We bought 25 crowns, but they sent 30, so I planted 5 rows of 6. Sonny, Chuck's uncle, stopped by just in time to give me direction: plant them a foot apart in rows 2 feet apart and plant them about 2 to 3 feet deep. So that is what I did. It took awhile, but I did it. Now I sure hope they grow! The great thing about asparagus is it is an early plant. Sonny has already picked some from his patch. I am now focusing on my veggie garden, so far I have planted potatoes, onions, and peas.
