Cob housing and Ilana

Not that kind of cob
And a picture of Ilana just because she's cute

This coming Monday we will be visiting the Hunt Utilities Campus. We are hoping that this will help us solidify our home building plans. We want to utilize the environment and not spend too much money in the process. Not only are we thinking about solar and wind power but we are looking at housing structures. We could build using regular lumber or straw bale housing or our latest pick cob- no it has nothing to do with corn cobs. The word 'cob' comes from an old English root meaning a lump or rounded mass. Cob itself is a mixture of sand clay and straw- wet enough to mold yet dry enough to build up without forms. It is kind of like Adobe but not in brick form but built in one massive sculpture. All this research is great, however we do need to pick a structure and go with it. We have been holding off until Monday~ I sure hope they can help us.
